Millipedes are worm-like and have many legs. They have many legs with 2 pairs of short legs on many segments of their bodies. Most are brownish or blackish in color. Some have light markings. Millipedes are often found under stones, bricks, in debris or soil. They feed on plants and decaying material and are slow moving. They do not bite. Millipedes do not cause damage indoors and do not pose a health hazard. Sealing cracks and other openings to the outside helps prevent them from entering.
